As a Postnatal Doula I provide non-judgmental emotional and practical support for parents during the first few weeks and months following the birth of their newborns - the Fourth Trimester. This trimester is often misunderstood but is equally as important as the rest.
The fourth trimester is a time that great physical and emotional change happens as both the mother and baby adjust to being outside the womb and becoming a new parent or adding to your family. It’s a special time when you and your partner (and siblings) should be getting to know your baby, finding out who they are and create amazing bonds that will last a lifetime. As a new mum, it is also when you should Rest, Recover and Relax as much as you possibly can. I am able to support, nurture and reassure You & Baby and make sure you R,R,&R.
I provide In-home Postnatal Support, Zoom Postnatal Support, Postnatal planning sessions and Bedtime Support for parents who have older siblings.
Support for You & Baby from me
You - Emotionally I am here to help you reflect on your birth experience and discuss how you are feeling. Reflection is an important process that all parents should take the time to do; whether it has been an uncomplicated or complicated birth - that includes both parents. I will help you navigate through your feelings, provide reassurance that you’re doing a fab job and signpost you to other professionals for any specific concerns.
Practically I can help take some of the household stress away, by putting that dishwasher on, fold some laundry or help prep some food. As new parents the focus tends to be all on that beautiful bundle (and rightly so), but before you know it, you have been sat for hours, not gone to the loo, forgotten to eat and drink and realise you have not had a shower. Whilst you sit and adore your baby, I can bring you nourishing snacks and drinks and have my ear ready to listen, chat or have a giggle.
Baby - I can assist you with infant feeding concerns (bottle or breast), brainstorm infant sleep problems, try to find the ‘root cause’ for reflux/colic without needing medication, and help plan/create sensory play. Who doesn't love a newborn cuddle! I’m happy to cuddle/babywear so you can enjoy a nice warm bubbly bath, have lunch or take a nap.
As a Postnatal Doula, I will support YOU and how YOU want to care for your baby. Every day is different with a newborn baby, and every day comes with highs and lows. However you are feeling I will ‘pop’ the kettle on, whilst you sit and ‘pop’ your feet up.
