Welcome to Outdoor Learning with Suffolk Wildlife Trust!
My name is Lauren, and I am one of SWT's Wild Learning Officers, based primarily at Knettishall Heath, but I also run pre-school sessions at Redgrave & Lopham Fen. I have been leading outdoor learning sessions for children of all ages, for over 11 years now; firstly for Essex Wildlife Trust and for the past two years, for Suffolk Wildlife Trust. I am also a Mum of two small boys, aged 5 and 3 years.
What we do and why we do it:
Introducing children to nature from a young age has a multitude of benefits, from developing fine & gross motor skills, building confidence, supporting socialisation, allowing creativity, encouraging imagination and so, so much more!
Our sessions are based on a mixture of child-led and structured activities, to allow children (and their accompanying adults!!) to discover, explore and enjoy the natural world around them, whilst gaining knowledge and an interest in our native wildlife, plants and trees.
* Wild Tots - suitable for children aged 18 months to 5 years.
* Wild Babies - suitable for babies aged 3 to 18 months.
We also run sessions for families, school-aged children, home-educated children and teens!
