“When a baby is born, so too is a Mother.”
Becoming a mother (matrescence) is a unique time of change in a person’s life. A time when you may experience transformation in some, or all aspects of your self; physical, social, psychological and spiritual. This life transition can impact how we feel about ourselves, and the people, and world around us.
Project Matrescence aims to support mothers navigate their individual transition to and through early motherhood. It is a six-week circle providing a therapeutic space for all mums, 6-12 months postpartum, to connect with self, with other mothers. Participants will be invited to creatively explore the real impact becoming a mother has had on their identity, relationships, career and emotions in a safe, small group environment.
Through sharing experiences with others, without judgement, and creative exploration which may include clay work, collage, drawing and poetry, participants can expect to; increase awareness of their individual matrescence experience; understand how it impacts them and their relationships; develop knowledge, skills and techniques to support them in this.
