Lots of parents are unaware of celebrant led ceremonies and many don’t want a church christening, so they just don’t bother! And yet there are really lovely ways of celebrating a new arrival, such as appointing ‘Guide parents’ (as opposed to God parents), tree planting or burying a time capsule - both really lovely if the ceremony is home based………
There are no limits and parents can be really creative and include other older children in the ceremony too, maybe by way of a sand ceremony. Some ceremonies focus more on the new arrivals integration into an existing family so the ceremony is more of a family affair as opposed to all being about the baby.
