Review: Spectacle of Light Haughley Park
Review written by Pia Howe at Toddle About Suffolk
We had the pleasure to be invited to the Spectacle of Light at Haughley Park on the weekend.
For those of you who haven’t been to Haughley Park before; it’s in Stowmarket and only 15-20 minutes drive from Bury St Edmunds, conveniently near the A14.
The grounds are just stunning and the drive into the grounds was beautifully lit up. 'This looks magical!' was one of the first things my son (7 year old) said as soon as we arrived.
It’s not your ordinary illuminated trail though - this year’s event is Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland themed! Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland is my all time favourite childhood Disney classic so I was probably more excited about this event than my 7 year old son!
Our highlights were:
- The live actors that you get to meet and chat to along the way. From the Mad Hatter, the Rabbit to the Queen of Hearts - they really added to the atmosphere and made the children laugh
- What I didn’t expect to see is the food offering about half way through the trail. From pizza to mulled wine and, much to our delight, the opportunity to roast some giant marshmallows by the fire. Yummy!
- The lights, music and props were fantastic and enchanting. We felt like being inside Alice's Wonderland at times.
The trail is pushchair friendly and there are toilets and baby changing facilities onsite. Free parking onsite. Dogs welcome.
We’ve been to a few illuminated trails but this one was by far the best one! We highly recommend visiting. This is a great evening out for the entire family.
Open Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening in February from 5.30pm - 7.45pm
You can book in advance online here or tickets are also available on the gate.
