Review: Orchard Toys Peter Rabbit Posting Game, worth £12

Review by VIP Club Member Ellie Knight

The Peter Rabbit Posting Game is a colour matching game for ages 2+ and can be played with just 1 or up to 4 people. It comes with 4 x 3D houses and 24 themed cards.

Like all Orchard Toy games it comes in a small, easy to travel with box. It also comes with a comprehensive instruction sheet which tells you the different ways to play.

Although this game is aimed at 2+, my 18 month old had a great time posting the different cards through the coloured houses. Alas, she was not quite able to post in the correct colours, she enjoyed using her fine motor skills to line up the cards and post through, which she was really fond of.

I like that this game had slightly different ways to play so that my 3 (almost 4 year old) didn't get bored. You can make the game harder or easier by either facing the cards up or down. My 3 year old enjoyed the third game in the instruction manual which made it more of a competition. It was a race to see who could get all 6 of their coloured cards into their matching house before the other players. Whereas game two just finished when all the cards were in the correct coloured houses.

I really enjoy the idea in the instructions which detailed doing a scavenger hunt around the house to find the themed cards. This turns it from just a fine motor skilled game to a gross motor one, having to scope out the hiding places.

This game is perfect for children from 18 months I would say. It may stop having such a thrill after the age of 4. However, the added scavenger hunt idea may attract the minds of children aged between 3-6 years old.

I personally really enjoyed the collaboration with Peter Rabbit as the designs on the houses and the cards were beautifully done.
