A Peaceful Parent Getaway at Meadow View Glamping – Poppy Shepherd’s Hut
My husband and I recently enjoyed a couple of blissful days away at Meadow View Glamping in Homersfield, staying in the charming Poppy Shepherd’s Hut – and it was exactly the quiet, relaxing break we needed from busy parenting life.
Tucked between Bungay and Harleston, this glamping retreat is perfectly located for exploring the beautiful Waveney Valley. With direct access to the river, you are able to paddleboard straight from the site. We launched from Bungay Riverside Centre to explore more of the River Waveney – a real treat!
The hut itself is immaculately clean, thoughtfully designed, and full of character. A lot of attention has gone into the details – from the stylish décor to the well-equipped kitchen, which includes a microwave oven, stove and even an air fryer. We were also welcomed with some delicious treats on arrival, which was such a lovely touch!
If you don’t fancy cooking, the pub just across the road is a convenient bonus. Despite being close to the road, the site is peaceful and quiet, with only two huts on the land, giving it an intimate and tranquil feel. While you may hear some traffic if you're a light sleeper (bring earplugs just in case!), the gorgeous meadow views and fairy-lit surroundings more than make up for it.
Evenings by the fire pit were a highlight – we had everything we needed to unwind, including a BBQ and the magic of fairy lights twinkling around us. It truly felt like a little pocket of countryside paradise.
There’s also plenty of free, secure parking on site, and Gina, the host, couldn’t have been more helpful – full of local tips and always happy to help.
We left feeling recharged and reconnected and will definitely return for another peaceful glamping escape. If you're looking for a romantic rural retreat with a touch of charm and comfort, Meadow View Glamping is just the place!
