Review: Hickory's Northampton

The Southern tastes of America come to Northampton

We had such a great experience at the new Hickory’s in Northampton! Our 9, 7 and 5 year olds have decided it is definitely their new favourite restaurant. The whole place has an amazing vibe — warm, lively and perfect for families. The service was exceptional from start to finish, and the team went out of their way to make the children feel included and important in their choices, which meant so much.

From the moment we walked in we felt relaxed and listened to. Our server went above and beyond to make sure the children were occupied with fun packs, knew where the toilets were located and explained they could go and catch a movie once they had ordered their food. 

A definite favourite for them from the get go was the movie room with popcorn. The kids were absolutely thrilled, and it gave us grown-ups a rare chance to enjoy a proper conversation (and some warm food!) while they were happily occupied. Genius idea. 

 

The food was absolutely delicious, it feels like a well thought out menu and cooked with care and passion. The portions are very generous. We would probably not order an appetiser for each child next time, the pretzel bites were definitely a large enough portion to share, but left overs are always a win so ask for a take out bag for anything you don't manage to eat!

Root beer floats, cheesy garlic pretzel bites, delicious chicken alongside the most delicious blooming onion and fantastic meat selections and outrageously good frozen custard for dessert (the children got to choose their own toppings at the creation station, which was really fun). It really is a taste of hearty, happy food. 

We’d highly recommend Hickory’s Northampton for any local families looking for somewhere fun, friendly, and genuinely thoughtful about making dining enjoyable for everyone. The atmosphere was relaxed, the facilities are well thought out and the whole experience felt really welcoming. We will certainly be back.
