Review: Gabby's Dollhouse Cakey Cat's Dough Kitchen, worth £11.99

As a parent of two young children, Forest, aged 4.5 and Robin, aged 2.5, i’m always on the lookout for toys that inspire creativity and foster imagination. Gabby’s Dollhouse Cakey Cat’s Dough Kitchen delivered on both counts and has quickly become a favourite in our household.

From the moment we opened the box, the vibrant colours and clever design caught the kids’ attention. The toy provides endless opportunities for role play, from “baking” and “decorating” cakes to inventing their own culinary creations. The kids loved experimenting with the dough, especially using the adorable icing syringe and mixing colours to make “frosting.” Forest managed the tools independently, while Robin needed a bit of help with the icing syringe, which can be a little tricky for smaller hands.

One of the standout features is the interactive press, which was easy to use and very satisfying for the kids. However, the lightweight build meant the set sometimes slid around on the table, and the Gabby’s Dollhouse sign had a tendency to fall off during play. Additionally, dough occasionally got stuck in the stamping mechanism, requiring adult help to clear it. These were minor hiccups that didn’t detract from the overall fun.

The compact size is perfect for little hands, and while grown-ups might find it a bit fiddly, the kids adored having a kitchen “just their size.” Bonus points for the fact that the set works with any kind of dough, including homemade versions. This has extended its play value significantly, keeping both kids engaged day after day.

On top of the fun, this toy has encouraged teamwork, turn-taking, and discussions about shapes, colours, and numbers. It’s a win for creativity, learning, and sibling bonding.
