Entertaining Your Children This Half Term on a Low Budget
With the February half-term fast approaching, experts at GO Outdoors have offered their advice on entertaining your children on a low budget.
Natalie Byrne, author and outdoor enthusiast at GO Outdoors says “With rising costs, it is unsurprising that many parents are worried about how to entertain their children. Luckily, the UK is home to a wide variety of cost-effective activities and acres of green spaces and beaches.”
“Whether you are visiting castles, or exploring the UK’s forests, we have offered our top tips on saving money when going out with your family and friends this half term.”
Top tips for cost-effective days out:
Dress for changing weather
Dressing appropriately, and making sure that you pack waterproof jackets and shoes means that you won’t have to spend money on umbrellas and ponchos whilst out and about.
Explore the great outdoors
The UK has acres of forests, hiking trails and beaches that can be explored for free! Many trails can be reached by public transport, and packing a bag full of snacks can help to save money and satisfy rumbling tummies.
Plan ahead
Planning days out ahead of time allows you to look for budget-friendly ideas as well as looking for discounts and deals on admission fees. Looking for combo tickets could also allow you to enter multiple attractions at a lower price.
Bring any products you think you may need
Bringing your essentials such as sunscreen, hats and jackets can help you to avoid buying them at locations with an inflated price. It is also a great idea to use a reusable water bottle that you can continue to refill throughout the day.
Entertain the kids with fun free activities
Geocaching, nature bingo and beach games can all keep children entertained for little to no money at all.
