  • The ancient sport takes over the grounds from 11th to 26th February
  • Unleash history with the Horrible Histories Maze, the Winter Birds of Prey, Zog Playland and so much more
  • Extend the fun with an extraordinary overnight stay in the Knight’s Village
Bringing excitement and thrilling displays, demonstrations and stunts, Warwick Castle’s Festival of Archery returns this February Half Term. Guests will be amazed by the archers’ skills as they tackle a range of exhilarating challenges and go head-to-head in a tournament of epic proportions.
Taking place over two weeks (11th-26th February), the Festival of Archery will once again celebrate the ancient art of bowmanship, taking over the grounds of the castle.
Throughout the day, families can watch the castle’s resident archers bring this historic skill to life in a range of jaw-dropping performances. Start the day by meeting the different teams of archers before they battle it out in the first round. During lunchtime, marvel at round two in the Central Courtyard, before heading to the East Front to see the Bowman Show and challenge your knowledge with a family quiz.
Later in the day, enjoy a change of scenery as the remaining competing archers prepare to battle in round three in the Peacock Garden. Afterwards, why not try your hand at beating the bowmen yourself? For a thrilling finale, head to the last shootout of the day to see who takes the accolade of being the castle’s sharpest shooter.
Those inspired by the professionals can try their hand at ‘Have -a-go*’ Archery to see if they can hit the bull’s eye themselves!
Liam Bartlett, Director of Operations at Warwick Castle said, “We’re delighted to be hosting the Festival of Archery once again – and it’s a fantastic way to kick off our biggest year of events yet. It’s always wonderful to see how much guests enjoy the skill of our archers and see them inspired to give the ancient sport a go. We can’t wait to welcome guests to enjoy all it has to offer.”
And that’s not all – Warwick Castle is filled to the turrets with family fun - all included within the price of a day ticket!
A whole host of activities await to thrill visitors of all ages. Be amazed by the castle’s winged residents in the Winter Birds of Prey, get lost in time in the much-loved interactive Horrible Histories Maze and continue your journey through time with a visit to The Kingmaker walk-through experience, before discovering the ancient weaponry in The Great Hall.
For more interactive fun, head to The Princess Tower to help the castle’s princess solve a riddle and break a curse, whilst those brave enough can tackle the Castle Dungeon*, which takes guests on a journey through some of the ancient stronghold’s darkest history.
Still yearning for more, children can slide into a world of adventure at the Zog Playland, which is inspired by the popular children’s book Zog and the Flying Doctors by author Julia Donaldson and illustrator Axel Scheffler.
Extend the adventure into a family getaway at the Knight’s Village
Those wanting to turn a day out into a family holiday can spend a night or two at the Knight’s Villages, nestled into a woodland glen within the castle grounds. Adding to the excitement all stays during the Festival of Archery will include a special archery experience at the Knight’s Village.
Enjoy a cosy wooden lodge, exclusive evening entertainment, one day’s castle entrance, discounted second day tickets, complimentary continental breakfast, unlimited WiFi, and car parking from just £75pp (based on a family of four sharing a Woodland Lodge).
