The Museum of Oxford (MOX) is the only museum to explore the history of the people of Oxford.

We have two galleries which show the changing story of Oxford through its history and people. From football to fairgrounds, marmalade to Morris Motors, patron saints to pubs, barges, bones, and all types of quirky customs—there’s something for everyone. A new space, called Museum Makers, encourages school children and communities to engage with our learning programme in a fun, informal space.

Through collection items, video, audio, and interactive displays, the exhibitions uncover what makes Oxford such a special place to live, work and study. It’s a great place for locals to explore their community stories and for visitors to discover our amazing city.

The Museum is open Monday-Saturday, 10am-5pm and is free to visit

We are accessible to wheelchair users and buggies throughout the spaces. There is a baby changing cubical on the ground floor of the Town Hall and on the basement floor of the museum.

We support breastfeeding in all our public spaces. However, if you would feel more comfortable in a private area, please ask at the Gift Shop and we’ll do our best to find you a quiet place.

Main Address: Oxford Town Hall, St. Aldates, Oxford, Oxfordshire, OX11BX
