Set in beautiful grounds just a short walk from the Junior and Senior School site, King Henry VIII Pre-Prep is the perfect place for your child to start their journey with us.

Inspirational and dedicated teachers allow us to fully celebrate the learning process. The children take ownership of their learning journey, they are highly motivated and inquisitive, with a love of learning that starts at a young age.

Our nurturing environment, where pastoral care is a priority, enables and encourages children to be the best version of themselves. King Henry VIII Pre-Prep is the route through which many pupils begin their time with us at Coventry School Foundation. Children usually join from the September after their third birthday and progress to King Henry VIII Junior School.

 EARLY YEARS – NURSERY & RECEPTION

Education at King Henry’s begins in our Little Swallows Nursery after your child turns three although children can join us at any time where spaces are available.

ACADEMIC

Early Years at King Henry VIII Pre-Prep encompasses both Nursery and Reception children within purpose-built open plan settings.

Our highly skilled staff are dedicated to creating a nurturing environment where your child can be happy, grow in confidence, build relationships and commence their learning journey. This, alongside the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework creates a robust curriculum for our children to make great strides in their progress and achievement.

CREATIVE

Learning through play, the environment and through meaningful and engaging experiences are key elements at King Henry VIII Pre-Prep. Your child will be encouraged to become a creative and critical thinker; planning their own learning, choosing appropriate resources and adapting their plans to achieve the desired outcome.

OUTDOOR LEARNING

Both Nursery and Reception children have continuous access to outdoor learning spaces. We endeavour for your child to consider the outdoors as a place to spend quality time being present in the moment and noticing everything around them.

KEY STAGE 1

ACADEMIC

At King Henry VIII Pre-Prep, the academic curriculum is broad, balanced and engaging. The children are appropriately challenged and supported as necessary and the teaching approach is a combination of whole class teaching, group work and individual support and challenge. English and Mathematics primarily take place in the morning, with other subjects such as Science, Computing, Geography, History and RE taking place in the afternoons.

CREATIVE

Creativity is an important part of the curriculum and children enjoy lessons in Art, Computing, Design Technology and Drama. A specialist Music teacher delivers lessons weekly and children are encouraged to explore rhythm and song as well as play a variety of instruments.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION

Developing a love for sport and other physical activities is a key part of our approach at King Henry VIII Pre-Prep. Children are encouraged to practise a variety of skills alongside teamwork and co-operation through fitness sessions and team games. We have a swimming pool onsite.

FOREST SCHOOL

Forest School sessions are always a favourite with the children who can practise skills such as woodland craft, den building, supervised use of tools and cooking over a fire, under the supervision of a qualified Forest School Leader.
