Review: Zaza's Storybox Toddler Book Subscription Box, worth £21.99

Review by VIP Club Member Jenni Bartram

We received the Toddler Subscription Box from Zaza's Storybox to review which included two books and a packet of stickers. It arrived in a plain cardboard box which didn’t really draw my toddlers attention (good in a way!) but I think part of me was hoping for something colourful or with a pattern to be able to reuse the box for colouring in/drawing.

Upon opening, my 2.5 year old was immediately drawn to the bright pink cover of “This is Frog”. In the last week I think we have read it at least twice a day, everyday! My toddler loves the way this book is interactive. It’s not just a “lift the flap” or “pull the lever” but a “close the page” or “shake the book up and down” action style of book. The bright colours and actions are really catchy, and you can even ask the child to act out the actions to make the book even more exciting.

The second book was a story book about a penguin. Initially he was drawn to this but unfortunately didn’t hold my toddlers attention at all which surprised me. The box itself took a while to arrive, but this could have been due to the Christmas rush. The packing material of the subscription box was reusable, so we used it in a sensory bin for our toddler!

The idea of having two new books arriving every month is really appealing, especially as it would help with rotating books to keep everyone engaged. It would be interesting to see what sort of books arrive the following month, whether they follow the same thing such as an activity book and a story book or if they are themed each month.

Overall we have loved receiving this subscription box, and it is definitely something I would consider in the future. I think this would also make a great gift idea. I would be intrigued to see what the baby subscription box included too!
