Review: Smashers Dino Dig Eggs, worth £32.98
Review by VIP Club Member Kerri Rossiter-Smith
We were excited to be chosen to do the review of the Large and Small Smashers Dino Dig Egg, upon unboxing both products when they arrived, there was a distinct difference in size between them.
With both Dino eggs the packaging was double layered and slightly tricky to remove. Once the packaging had been removed you could distinctly see a crack around the whole egg, and you have to squeeze the egg until it makes a popping sound and then it opens.
Inside the smaller egg, the presentation is very basic, there are instructions, a small pack of stickers, a collectors guide and 3 coloured bags to open.
Each bag contained a ball of moulding dough (like play doh), along with dinosaur parts and some moulds. The dough itself is quite tough to use, and the parts and moulds I would have assumed to have been hidden in the dough, weren’t, they were just stuck to the dough. The moulds are small but because the dough is quite hard, upon removing the dough from the moulds we found the impression from the moulds wasn’t as good.
The assembly of the dinosaur was easy and quick and it seems of good quality and hardy.
The large egg had a similar presentation inside, apart from it had 4 bags of dough instead of 3, and bigger moulds.
Still same amount of stickers, an instruction booklet and collectors guide.
Again, the moulds and dinosaur pieces were just sort of stuck to the outside of the dough.
Assembly of the bigger dinosaur was as easy as the smaller one, again very sturdy and feels good quality.
Our little girl wasn’t really interested in the moulds at all, or the dough (I think because it’s harder than play doh), all she wanted to do was play with the dinosaurs themselves.
The packets of dough are resealable in order to keep the dough fresh to play with again and again, but we haven’t played with the dough since at all.
All in all, a great novelty toy, adds excitement that you have to open individual packets to find the dinosaur parts, then assemble your dinosaur. The only let down for us was the moulding dough.
