Little Threads launches new pre-loved children’s clothing concept
Local mum launches pre-loved children’s clothing concept designed to extend the life cycle of children’s clothes and encourage sustainable shopping while helping families save time and money
A mother-of-three from Buckinghamshire has launched Little Threads, a pre-loved children’s clothing business, that finds high-quality and hand-checked outgrown, but not outworn, children’s clothes a loving new home.
In a climate of rising family costs and increasing concerns about the environmental impact of fast fashion, founder of Little Threads and mum-of-three Jill Tracey is keen to help time and cash strapped parents and carers who would like to shop more sustainably.
“There are some fantastic outlets selling preloved items”, Jill says, “but it often takes time that a lot of parents simply don’t have. Little Threads is an efficient and trustworthy alternative to endlessly scrolling websites to find high quality pre-loved items. We act like a pre-loved personal shopper; customers tell us what they need, as well as the styles they and their children like best, and we do the hard work for them by tailoring a box of meticulously hand-checked items at a fraction of the original prices”.
Little Threads is passionate about “extending the thread” of children’s clothes, enabling clothes to be re-loved by more children and, in turn, encouraging sustainability. Families can choose to sell or donate outgrown, but not outworn, items via a simple pre-paid mailing bag process, again aimed at saving families the time and effort involved in photographing, listing and negotiating items common on other marketplace sites.
Jill says, “With children getting through up to seven clothes sizes in the first two years, so many parents have piles of beautiful clothes stored away with no-one to pass them on to. I believe there is something magical about clothes being passed from one family to another to create new memories. Imagine the excitement of receiving a surprise package of clothes hand-picked just for you! And, that’s why Little Threads was established”.
Little Threads is also committed to supporting family and child-related charities, pledging items and 50% of profits from donated items to their partner charities which so far include Thames Hospice and Wycombe Womens Aid.
