Celebrate 50 years of play with MKPA
Next year, Milton Keynes Play Association will have been running for 50 years. To celebrate this exciting occasion, the charity has launched a campaign to raise £50,000 by its 50th anniversary. Show your support by donating just £5 via the JustGiving page today.
Since 1971, Milton Keynes Play Association has delighted generations of MK residents with fun-filled play sessions - creating memories of playing on bouncy castles, face painting, crafting under the shade of a gazebo and sliding down our water slip-and-slide.
MKPA also runs the Scrapstore which takes in more than 60 tonnes of industrial waste each year - that would've otherwise been sent to landfill - which is repurposed for arts and crafts, and creative play. This service has continued throughout lockdown, on a no-contact basis, where families order a craft box by email, provide a suggested donation, and collect their box from the Scrapstore car park at Kiln Farm.
During lockdown, the team has been busy creating worksheets and how-to videos to help parents support their children's learning and development while away from school.
After lockdown, MKPA will resume its ever-popular low-cost training sessions and adapt them to accommodate the new coronavirus guidelines. Training sessions range from health and safety to paediatric first aid, which help to keep children safe in a variety of environments.
"Having been involved with MKPA for more than 30 years, I have seen the immense difference it has made to the lives of children in Milton Keynes.” says Wendy Usher, Volunteer Acting Chief Executive.
MKPA's 50th Anniversary
MKPA needs your help to ensure it survives this difficult period and manages to celebrate its 50th year of play. The team is asking for donations of just £5 to help reach MKPA’s ambitious target of £50,000 in time for the charity’s 50th anniversary.
Donations will be put towards keeping this long-standing charity running, creating craft boxes for the children of Milton Keynes and hosting essential training sessions to keep children safe.
If you'd like to see this long-standing local charity reach its 50th year, achieve its £50,000 target and continue to provide play for children across MK, then please donate today.
“Your support through this difficult period will allow us to continue to support the families of MK, helping to grow the future generation of adults for another 50 years!" - Wendy Usher, Volunteer Acting Chief Executive.
