SEN-ED Kitchen

The journey through education can be daunting for families, and occasionally they don't receive as much support and advice as they need when it comes to helping their young people.

My passion is to bridge that gap to truly empower families.

Why Choose SEN-ED Kitchen

I am deeply passionate about bridging the gap between support and advice to empower your family. I help you navigate the tricky path of your child's education journey whether it be through school or home education, and sharing with you practical advice and tips from my experiences as both a SEN mum, teacher and business owner.

My ability to see beyond and understand behaviours presented to me, enables me to form strong relationships with those I mentor, earning their trust and helping them to better understand themselves. I believe that everyone is able to achieve and I encourage my mentees to have confidence in themselves, step outside their comfort zone so they reach their potential and achieve their dreams. I work with hundreds of children across different ages and parts of the UK.

When I'm not working, I enjoy nothing more than having my family home full of family and friends - the noisier, and busier the better!

Meet Sarah

I'm Sarah and I live in Brackley with my three beautifully different children, two of who have been diagnosed with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). My eldest daughter (13) has dyslexia and is in a mainstream secondary, and my son (4) has autism, and we are awaiting a diagnosis for ADHD. He has an Education Health Care Plan (EHCP), and we are lucky enough to have secured him a place in a special school for September 2023.

I have always had a passion for working with young people, and after leaving school, I trained and qualified as a teacher. I loved teaching and never felt more at home than in my classroom having fun learning with my students. We had the best lessons! I saw it as my mission to really know my students, what interested them, what their strengths were and what they found challenging. Using this to engage and support them with what we needed to do together.

I taught for over 10 years in a range of mainstream primary and secondary schools. In that time, I was a Curriculum Manager, Head of Year, Head of Science, Outdoor trip leader organising Year 7 camps, multiple Duke of Edinburgh expeditions and even led an expedition to Swaziland with 12 students. Following the success of my after school Rugby club which meant those training weren't up to other questionable activities, I worked with the RFU and Met Police to move their joint Rugby project, Hitz, to the London Borough I was teaching in. I guess I always favoured the child/young person who didn't have it easy and making sure they had experiences which enabled them to see what they could achieve with a little self-belief.
