Discovery Tots Class 

Are you looking for a class for you and your baby that offers you great value for money as well as lots of fun?

Discovery Tots offers you that and much more in a warm, welcoming and friendly environment.

Our classes combine the benefits of yoga, signing, massage, sensory play, music, bubbles and more into one fun-filled, engaging programme.

These multi-activity, multi-sensory classes are a great way to aid your baby’s development whilst making new friends and picking up lots of ideas for playtimes at home too.

Looking forward to entertaining you in the comfort of your own home!

The course will run over 6 sessions, twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays for 3 weeks via zoom, with each class around 50 minutes to an hour.

Here's a bit more of what we'll cover:

Session 1 - Introduction to baby massage. Massage strokes for arms and legs, plus getting to know each other

Session 2 - Massage for the chest and abdomen, plus a specific massage routine for colic relief, plus calming techniques for your baby

Session 3 - Full body massage routine, and fun and effective tummy time techniques

Session 4 - Baby yoga (stretching and relaxing), introduction to baby sign language

Session 5 - Dynamic baby yoga, further day to day signs and simple sensory activities

Session 6 - Taking sign language further, the benefits of sensory play and lots of simple sensory ideas to enjoy with your baby

To make sure you get the most from the course and can join in with everything we do, we send out a pack of resources for you, with a full colour workbook detailing all the activities we do, a bottle of organic massage oil, a beach ball and foil blanket that we'll be using for tummy time play, and a scarf and feather for some sensory fun. These will be delivered directly to you, so you'll be all set to play!

There will also be lots of opportunity to ask questions and share all the highs and lows of life with your new little one with the others in the group, and we'll help you get to know and keep in touch with each other too, so you can support each other on this. often challenging, but always wonderful, time of your lives.

The new-born stage can be tricky at the best of times never mind during a global pandemic when we can't access those support structures that we usually turn to with our baby troubles, so come and find the support, friendship and fun you need, as well as lots of practical play and development ideas with us on this lovely, relaxed course.

Social Tots is a lively, 40 minute, weekly class, for mobile babies and toddlers from around 8 months, or crawling confidently, to approximately 2 + years.

Sessions are filled with lots of different play experiences to stimulate and enhance your child’s physical, sensory, social and creative development, and to encourage you to have fun together with lots of opportunities for you to cuddle, play, connect and make new discoveries with your little one every week.

When the whole world is an adventure waiting to be discovered, it can be tricky to keep these little explorers still for long, so activities are kept short, interactive and varied throughout each session. With the emphasis on fun, our carefully designed programme includes a mix of structured and free play activities, both so important for this age group, providing plenty of opportunity for Tots to build the skills they will need to prepare for the challenges of preschool and beyond, along with their own creativity, independence and early social skills.

What Happens at a Class? Each class starts with our hello and welcome songs, which your little one will soon get to know and be encouraged to join in with. The familiar format, but changing activities of the class, help your child grow in confidence as they explore yoga inspired stretches, music, movement and instruments, sign language and communication games and our sensory and physical equipment, not forgetting our ever popular parachute play( in face to face class), bubble time and cool down.

You will be introduced to simple songs and activities that can be carried on at home to continue the learning and development process. We want Social Tots classes to be a relaxed, happy place for you and your child.

Don’t worry if they do not want to join in all the activities straight away. At this early age, not participating in an activity is entirely appropriate!! Our group activities are encouraged but we never want to force a child to participate. Experience has shown, though, that the more enthusiastic you are about the activities, the more likely your child is to want to join in and the quicker they will feel at home. However, please feel comfortable to join in with as much or as little as you would like during the class and take each activity at your child’s pace.
