Review: The Legend of Robin Hood at the Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds

Review by Pia Howe at Toddle About Suffolk

We were absolutely delighted to be invited to watch this year’s Christmas Panto, The Legend of Robin Hood at the Theatre Royal in Bury St Edmunds.

If you haven’t got your tickets yet, then I advise you to book as it was absolutely brilliant!

The story of Robin Hood is an all time favourite in our house and this story had a brilliant twist.

This year’s pantomime offered everything you’d expect to see - great staging, flamboyant costumes and catchy songs, with the hero Robin of Loxley, who looked rather fantastic in his green tights, to the greedy, tax raising Sheriff of Nottingham who was absolutely fantastic.

It was great fun to see the cast interacting with the audience (myself included) and really got adults and the children involved.

We particularly enjoyed the song choices this year and current affairs jokes.

The evening will stay with both of our boys (6 and 11 years) for a very long time and they are still talking about the performance and different characters every day. What a great start to the Christmas season.

Huge congratulations and well done to the cast, the performance was an absolute triumph from start to finish.

The show is on until 14 January 2023 and you can book your tickets here.
