Review: Peter Pan Pantomime at Ipswich Regent Theatre, Suffolk, 2022

Review by Pia Howe, Toddle About Suffolk

This is the second pantomime we've seen at Ipswich Regent Theatre with Cinderella in 2019 being the first one. Cinderella was our favourite pantomime ever so we were really excited to be invited to this year's performance.

The cast was fantastic, with our favourite character Mike ‘squeaky’ McClean as Smee and EastEnders star Matt Lapinskas as the hero, Peter Pan. The costumes, singing and production didn't disappoint with some relevant jokes to the current climate, comparing to our previous visit with Cinderella's panto in 2019, it just misses the top spot for a great performance.

The highlight of this year's performance for us were the acrobatics and gymnastic scene as well as Peter and Wendy flying on stage.

Expect plenty of audience interactions, boos and hiss'es and a flamboyant Dame as you would expect to see at a pantomime.

The funniest bit for us were the moments the actors messed up their script and Mike McClean's stand up comedy at the end of the show.

A great family show we can recommend watching. Peter Pan will run until Saturday 31st December and you can book your tickets online at https://ipswichtheatres.co.uk/whats-on/peter-pan-christmas-panto/
